The
broker Hans comes back from a foreign country, where he as though ran from the wife Eva.
Now Eva has died. She was threw out from an apartment. Hans has a misgiving, that someone
"has helped" her to jump out, it is his former friend Jack (Derek de Lint), who had relation with Eva.
Hans is in the congress of brokers, where there is Jack too. In flash-backs we see:
Hans gets acquainted with the typist Eva, she becomes his wife. Eva throws work,
she begins to have agoraphobia and begins to drink. Eva thinks, that will find support
at Jack, who as well as she has phobias. She goes to Jack and between them there are
relation is "owner - slave", which it is possible to name therapeutic. When Jack bring
in the house more one woman, it becomes a problem for Eva. Besides the therapy of Jack
put an end. Eva again begins to have phobia. When she decides to return to Hans,
he escapes from her.
In the congress, Hans wants to learn the truth at Jack, placing him in a situation, where
there could be his phobia. But Hans don't know the weak point of Jack.
Therefore he tries at Jack his height-phobia, space-phobia, tunnel-phobia and bridge-phobia.
But Jack is not afraid. Also it appears, that he nothing did,
Eva itself was threw out from a window. And now Hans can suffer only.
