Wealthy Mr.H seems to have lost everything: his health, his youth, his wife and even control over his own fortune. But he has kept something for more important: his desire for women. And that life-affirming passion, fueled by the tempting nearness of his sultry daughter-in-law, lets him escape from his sickbed into the rich world of fantasy and remembrance.
Look inside the Diary of a Mad Old Man and you'll find humor and tragedy, wisdom and sensuality. Based on Junichiro Tanazaki's acclaimed novel, it is a film for everyone who's ever harbored a secret sexual wish.

movie review of tape

It's a story of a rich businessman who has an odd passion to his daughter-in-law Simone. He refuses to pass the necessary treatment, because he needs money for building a pool for her. He buys expensive things to her, he watches her furtively when she takes a shower. He is jealous when she has an intimacy with a man. She is not confused at all by the attention of the rich old man. After death of his wife, he becomes attached to Simone much more. His son Philippe (Derek) nurses him. And when the old man has an apoplectic stroke, only Philippe remains near his bed. The dying man sees in his dreams Simone swimming in the pool he hasn't built yet.
