The assistant of the doctor Jim decides to throw work in hospital. It goes in the conflict to the head doctor of this hospital, prof. Bernard Delfman, who is his father too. The Jim's wife Ingrid leaves from him and begins to live with the Jim's student Theo (De Lint). Bernard Delfman is finded out dangerous illness of heart, but he speaks nobody about it, even to the wife Elisabeth, the marriage has turned for a long time to one visibility. Bernard speaks Jim, that his practice temporarily should pass. He go in hospital for treatment. When Jim finds the father, Bernard has the heart attack. And he dies soon. Jim receives practice of the father. He begins to understand, that the spiritual crisis begins to pass. Ingrid comes back to him.
