quote from the review on letterbox

All Men Are Mortal is a powerful and unconventional lovyitory of a young, ambitious actress and a lonely, immortal Prince.

Regina is a highly talented, successful actress, known and admired throughout France. Nevertheless, she is dissatisfied with life, she craves attention and fame - not just tor now, but for all time. On meeting Fosca, a man who reveals himself to be immortal, Regina believes she has finally found the answer -a man who will love her eternally and whose memories will make her immortal - she longs to be the only woman in his memory.

But Fosca is haunted by events from past centuries - living with the same mistakes over and over again, with war, cruelty and injustice. Time and time again he must live with the sorrow of seeing those he loves grow old and die. Regina must question whether immortality and love can exist at the same time or whether true love is only possible through the limitations of life.

It is a lovestory of a 28-years theatre actress Regina and a strange man Fosca. At a certain stage of life Regina begins to understand that her glory and beauty are not eternal. She is out of spirits. In the hotel Regina sees a strange man who sits in an internal court yard of the hotel. He eats nothing and talks with nobody. Regina finds this interesting. She decides to get acquainted with this strange man. Unexpectedly he falls in love with Regina and begins to pursue her. She dislikes the importunate person and in the beginning she avoids meeting him. However, Regina falls in love with him as well. Fosca tells her the story of his life. He was born in the 13th century, but has lived up to now. It is very pleasant to Regina that an immortal person loves her. Ten thousand years later someone will remember her name, her features, her voice. She decides to throw theatre because of him. Suddenly Fosca leaves her alone on a bridge.

Derek plays Bertus, a well-known abstract artist. He is in love with Florence, Regina's friend. When thoughtless Florence finds out that she is going to have a baby, she tells Bertus that he is a father of her child. He agrees to marry her with pleasure. At the next party, Bertus announces to the guests his engagement with Florence and presents a painting which is devoted to her. This film has reminded me that in youth Derek wanted to be an artist, he studied in the Academy of Arts.
